BE READY NOW: The European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness

Horizon Europe project 01/2026-12/2032

BE READY NOW is co-funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No 101226682

Statens Serum Institut (SSI) is a partner in BE READY NOW, the European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness, a large-scale European initiative bringing together 81 organisations from 27 European and associated countries, alongside the European Commission.

Coordinated by ANRS Maladies infectieuses émergentes, the Partnership aims to strengthen Europe’s ability to anticipate and respond rapidly to emerging infectious disease threats. BE READY NOW works to advance knowledge on emerging infectious diseases and to maintain critical research capacities between crises, ensuring that Europe is better prepared before the next outbreak occurs.

With a €240 million budget, co-funded by participating countries and the EU (through the Horizon Europe programme), BE READY NOW is fully embedded within the European Health Security framework, ensuring that research, preparedness and response are tightly connected.

What will BE READY NOW do?

  • Align national research priorities and scientific expertise across Europe;
  • Fund multinational research through Joint Transnational Calls;
  • Build a resilient, integrated research ecosystem, including an “ever-warm” European clinical research network ready to mobilise rapidly during outbreaks;
  • Strengthen public health research and collaboration across disciplines, including the One Health approach and social sciences research.

Pandemics are recurring global threats. BE READY NOW turns lessons learned from COVID-19 into long-term, coordinated preparedness, so Europe can generate timely evidence and act faster when new health crises emerge. The Partnership aims to ensure that critical research capacities remain operational between crises, not only during emergencies.
