Responsibilities

Section Manager for Laboratory Operations in the International Reference Laboratory of Mycobacteriology. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and maintaining quality system documentation
• Developing and improving diagnostic methods
• Coordinating and advancing drug susceptibility testing, including new antibiotics
• Implementing and further developing next-generation sequencing (NGS)

Research area

Research activities focus on the genomic epidemiology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, including the use of NGS to investigate transmission patterns, outbreak development, and drug resistance in tuberculosis low-incidence settings. The work also includes studies of recurrent tuberculosis, strain diversity and virulence, as well as the evaluation and validation of new diagnostic methods, including the use of NGS for prediction of phenotypic drug susceptibility.
