Secure communication with SSI

Citizens, authorities and companies can contact us in several different ways. You can read more below about how to communicate securely with us.

How to contact us

Digital Post

If you are a citizen, we encourage you to contact us via Digital Post.

When sending Digital Post to us, please choose the contact point that best matches the subject of your inquiry. The contact points appear when you select SSI as recipient. If you are unsure which contact point to select, please choose the one for the main mailbox (hovedpostkasse).

If you have received a message regarding the processing of personal data (Information om behandling af personoplysninger) and have questions about this, please contact us using the Borgerhenvendelser contact point (use the link to be taken directly there).

Authorities and companies are also encouraged to contact us via Digital Post, using the contact point that corresponds to the subject of your inquiry.

Read more about Digital Post at the Agency for Digital Government (Digitaliseringsstyrelsen).

Physical mail

If you are exempt from Digital Post, or if you for other reasons cannot contact us via Digital Post, you may instead contact us via physical mail. This is also a secure way to communicate with us.

Our address:

Statens Serum Institut
Artillerivej 5
2300 Copenhagen S

If your inquiry is directed to a particular department or person, please also indicate this on the envelope.

Secure email

If you are contacting us as an authority or company, you may also write to us via encrypted email. Please ensure that the email is sent securely using encryption.

If you are a citizen, you should not contact us via encrypted email. Your email address itself is considered personal data, and as a rule, personal data must be sent to us via Digital Post.

How we contact you

We always contact citizens via Digital Post, unless you are exempt. In such cases we will send a physical letter instead.

When contacting authorities or companies, we use the most secure form of communication available, depending on the circumstances and the type of information being shared.

Response times

SSI responds to all inquiries as quickly as possible.

If your inquiry concerns your rights under the data protection rules (GDPR), as a rule you must receive an answer within one month. This applies, for example, if you have asked about which information we process about you, or asked us to delete information about you.

In some cases, the response period may be extended by up to two additional months, i.e. the response time may be a maximum of 3 months. If an extension is necessary, we will inform you within the first month after receiving your inquiry.

Fraud SMS

If you receive an SMS claiming to be from SSI that contains a link, do not click on the link!

SSI does not send SMS messages to citizens with links in them.

This is a so-called “smishing” attempt, where cybercriminals try to trick you into clicking on a malicious link in order to steal your personal data.

Do not click on the link in the SMS and do not reply. Simply delete the SMS.

If you receive a fraud SMS, you are welcome to inform us about it by email at ssidatabeskyttelse@ssi.dk (please write “Fraud SMS” in the subject line).
