Research area

Infectious disease epidemiology. Vaccinology. Studies on vaccine effectiveness and studies, e.g. register-based, of determinants for vaccination. In the recent years there have been a focus and studies of HPV-, and pneumococcal-vaccination. Several years of experience with conduction of large population-based research projects in developing countries focusing on the natural history of and to improve the case management of diarrhoeal disease and pneumonia.

Responsibilities

Leading the vaccine preventable diseases group: Surveillance of uptake in the childhood vaccination programme by use of the Danish vaccination registry, surveillance of vaccine preventable diseases, invasive bacterial diseases including meningococcal-, pneumococcal- and Hæmophilus influenza type b-infections, influenza and influenza- vaccination programme, mortality monitoring, tuberculosis and vector-transmitted diseases.
