Research area

Research within the development of Next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based surveillance and outbreak detection of food borne pathogenic bacteria.  Primarily by analysis of whole-genome sequence (WGS) data of Campylobacter, but also including WGS-based projects on Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), and C. difficile.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) -based typing methods for use in national surveillance of foodborne pathogenic bacteria
    • primarily for Campylobacter, STEC, (C. difficile).
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of databases for extracting genetic markers, e.g. virulence genes, serotype-specific genes and resistance markers, for surveillance.
  • Surveillance and outbreak detection
    • within STEC, Listeria and Campylobacter.
