Christian is a Statistician and epidemiologist in the department for infectious disease epidemiology and prevention at Statens Serum Institut (SSI) in Denmark and Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in the UK.

At the SSI, Christian’s work mostly focusses on COVID-19 epidemiology and in particular on population studies estimating the level and duration of COVID-19 vaccine protection, and protection after a previous infection against reinfection with SARS-CoV-2. Recently he has studied the protection after vaccination and previous omicron infection against infection and hospitalisation with new omicron subvariants. Through his appointment with LSHTM, Christian is also involved with research into non-communicable diseases and HIV epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa.

Research interests: infectious disease epidemiology, clinical trials methodology, statistical modelling.
