Purpose
Data Integration and Analysis was established in 2017 as part of a strategic step towards digitalization of the infectious disease preparedness. The purpose of DIAS is to deliver the data for infectious disease surveillance in a changing world. In DIAS, we develop systems for usage across areas such as patient treatment, local infection control and national disease surveillance. We do this through timely and automated collection and linkage of data from various sources, and analysis and visualization of surveillance data and vaccination uptake monitoring.
DIAS works closely with the other departments at SSI, the other institutions under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior and Health, and with the regional Departments of Clinical Microbiology and other regional actors.
Through this broad collaboration, DIAS furthermore supports the development of national standards for data transfer, classifications, and data algorithms for disease specific case definitions.

Tasks
- Maintenance and further development of:
- The Danish Microbiology Database (MiBa) as well as MiBa-based services for regional entities, e.g. local infection control (MiBAlert) and display of test results in electronic patient journals and laboratory systems.
- The Healthcare-Associated Infections Database (HAIBA).
- National standards for data transfer and national classifications.
- Data algorithms for definition of disease cases, data processing and data linkage with various sources.
- Dashboards for data visualization and display of surveillance data on the SSI website among other sites.
- Data analyses, e.g. epidemiological descriptions of data, statistical analyses, geographic distribution.
- Delivery of data and development of reports for internal and external users (including Danish and international health authorities, regional and municipal authorities).
- Support for digital solutions aimed at citizens, e.g. Coronapas, Sundhedsjournalen, and MinSundhed.
- Delivery of data for research purposes.
