Congenital Disorders

Purpose

• Screen all newborns in Denmark for serious congenital disorders by analyzing a dried blood spot sample taken 2-3 days after birth. The purpose is to facilitate early treatment and thus prevent serious permanent injury of the child
• Develop and improve newborn screening for congenital disorders
• Investigate courses and pathogenesis for congenital disorders to improve prevention and treatment. Read more about the department’s research here

Tasks

• Perform the necessary screening analyses fast and quality assured
• Develop new sensitive high-capacity methods for biochemical and genetic analysis of dried blood spot samples
• Identify new biomarkers and genetic variations of relevance for development of disease
