Laboratory for Serology

The Laboratory for Serology at Statens Serum Institut functions as a primary laboratory for the diagnostics of bacterial and viral infections, and the analysis of antibody levels as part of determining vaccination statuses and immunological diagnosis.

The Laboratory for Serology performs diagnostics for the following bacterial and viral infections:

Gastrointestinal pathogens

  • Campylobacter
  • Helicobacter pylori
  • Salmonella
  • Yerinia

Hepatitis

  • Hepatitis A virus (HAV)
  • Hepatitis E virus (HEV)

Herpes viruses

  • Herpes Simplex virus (HSV)
  • Varicella zoster/Human herpes virus 3 (VZV)
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
  • Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)

Other bacteria and viruses

  • Brucella
  • Chlamydia trachomatis
  • Denguevirus
  • Leptospira
  • Morbillivirus
  • Neisseria meningitidis
  • Parotitisvirus
  • Rubellavirus
  • Zikavirus

Respiratory pathogens

  • Bordetella pertussis

Furthermore, the laboratory performs diagnostics of different exotic vira and special diagnostics according to individual requests.

The laboratory also develops new serological analyses and continuously improves existing methods.
