No 28/35 - 2025
Free HPV vaccination for men born in 2005
Free HPV vaccination for men born in 2005
HPV vaccination protects against cancers caused by HPV, including anal cancer, as well as against genital warts.
All men born in 2005 are offered free HPV vaccination during the period 1 January – 31 December 2025, EPI-NEWS 1-3b/2025. The offer applies to both unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals.
Men who have already received three doses are fully vaccinated and do not need further vaccination.
Earlier this year, Statens Serum Institut sent an information letter via e-Boks to the target group. On August 28, 2025, a reminder letter will be sent – again to the entire target group, regardless of vaccination status. This may lead men who are missing one or more doses to contact their general practitioner.
To receive all three doses before the offer expires, the first dose must be given before the end of August 2025. If the first dose is given later than this, only the first two doses will be free of charge.
Vaccination is voluntary and is given by the person’s own general practitioner.
The minimum intervals between vaccine doses are shown below:
As of August 8th, 2025, 40% of men in the 2005 birth cohort had received at least one HPV vaccine dose. The lowest coverage was on Bornholm (32%) and the highest in North Zealand (49%). See Monitoring in numbers, figures and maps.
A total of 28% were fully vaccinated. Full vaccination may consist of either two or three doses, depending on the age at vaccination. The lowest proportion fully vaccinated was on Bornholm and in West and South Zealand (22%), while the highest was in North Zealand (37%). See Monitoring in numbers, figures and maps.
