Week 50 - 2018
Notification of infectious diseases goes electronic (E-1515 and E-MRSA)
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Notification of infectious diseases goes electronic (E-1515 and E-MRSA)
It is long-awaited and therefore good news that physicians will be able to notify infectious diseases electronically as from 2019. The launch date for E-1515 and E-MRSA has not yet been set, but we expect these services to be launched in the first half of 2019.
The Danish Data Health Authority (DDHA) and the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Prevention (DIDEP), Statens Serum Institut, have joined forces to provide a web-based electronic solution that will be accessed via SEI2 (The Danish Data Health Authority’s Electronic Notification System, version 2). E-1515 and E-MRSA are easily accessible from any computer with internet access.
In this manner, the notification of all notifiable conditions will be gathered: the E-1515 will replace paper form 1515 and also the syphilis and gonorrhoea forms provided at ww.ssi.dk. Furthermore, HIV form 4001-9 (the pink form) will become part of E-1515, and the E-MRSA replaces paper form 5001.
This solution also simplifies notification of infectious diseases for the notifying physician; firstly, because the form is automatically adapted to the condition that the physician wants to notify; secondly, because the electronical form is sent automatically to both the Department of Infectious Epidemiology and Prevention and the Danish Patient Safety Authority, why the notification will no longer need to be sent by surface mail to two different addresses.
Once the launch date has been set, it will be announced in EPI-NEWS along with additional information about the use of E-1515 and E-MRSA and information about how to become a user of the SEI2, etc. This information, including the link to the SEI2, will also be made available at the SSI website.
If you need to remind yourself which diseases are notifiable, here is the information you need (Danish language).

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Unless special circumstances arise, EPI-NEWS will not be published until week 2, 2019. The editorial team wishes everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
