The European pertussis meeting will be held at SSI in September 2018
For the third time, SSI will host the annual European pertussis meeting, EUPertstrain/EUPertgenomics.
On September 12-13, 2018, SSI will host the annual European pertussis meeting (EUPertstrain/EUPertgenomics). The meeting covers the non-clinical aspects of pertussis - such as diagnostic methods, genetic variation, development of vaccines, immunology and epidemiology. We are expecting participants from up to 20 different European countries.
These meetings have been held since 1999 and have resulted in several joint research projects. The core of the network consists of experts from Finland, UK, Denmark, The Netherlands, France, Italy, Norway and Poland. Through a contract with the ECDC (EUPert-Labnet) the network has developed official recommendations for laboratory diagnostics of pertussis including training of personnel from reference laboratories as well as quality assurance programmes for the methods.
SSI will be hosting the meeting for the third time, the two previous occasions were in 2008 and 2014.
