Responsibilities

Executive Vice President for Diagnostic Preparedness including the Departments of Virus and Microbiological Special Diagnostics; Bacteria, Parasites and Fungi; Tuberculosis and Mycobacteria as well as Pre-Diagnostics and Service. The work is organised as an integrated One Health collaboration and thus includes laboratory diagnosis of infections in both humans and animals. Also Affiliate Professor at Deakin University, Victoria, Australia.

Research area

My research interests are wide and focus in particular on virus detection, characterization and pathobiology, molecular epidemiology, One Health and development and use of molecular biology methods including e.g. sequencing and metagenomics.
