Antimicrobial Consumption and Resistance Surveillance Unit
The Antimicrobial Consumption and Resistance Surveillance Unit collects and analyses national data on the consumption of antimicrobial agents in humans and antimicrobial resistance in clinical human bacteria. The main findings are presented in the annual national DANMAP report together with similar important findings on the veterinary side, reported through DTU FOOD. The unit also refers data to the European monitoring programmes EARS-Net and ESAC-Net.
The unit undertakes research into the development of antimicrobial consumption and possible relationships between antimicrobial consumption and development of resistance and prepares surveillance data analyses to guide the work of the National Antibiotic Council. The unit also participates in development and broadcasting of the annual national antibiotic campaign.
