Evolution of influenza virus in relation to; pathogenicity, antiviral resistance, host factors, receptor binding, effect on antigenicity in relation to vaccine effectiveness etc.

Antibody response against influenza virus after vaccination and infection amongst patients in specific risk groups.

Mechanisms behind zoonotic transmission of influenza virus between different hosts.

Evolution and disease burden of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

Responsibilities

Responsible for the National Influenza Center for WHO (DK), which is in charge of the national virological surveillance of influenza virus in Denmark. As well as national surveillance of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The laboratory is also national referencelaboratory for avian influenza and Newcastle disease virus (NDV), furthermore the following veterinary viruses; swine influenza virus, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILT), canine distemper virus (CDV), Aleutian mink disease virus (ADV), and Rabbit hemorragic disease virus (RDHV).
